Over the last few months, we have expanded our team with some talented new additions to provide the best possible support for our growing client base. Rhiannon Barnes-Powell joins Venn as our new Brand Strategist.
After joining the team in August, Rhiannon has shown outstanding commitment to her clients and provided an exciting new level of expertise to the Venn team, specialising in brand development and tone of voice.
Get to know Rhiannon and discover her passion for brand strategy!
What area of marketing do you specialise in?
My background is in creative & copywriting. I love the psychology of what we do when you mix that with copywriting, that becomes the brand strategy.
To be a strategist, you must be able to be creative with numbers. – it takes a particular brain.
What is your role at Venn?
I have joined Venn as a Brand Strategist.
Currently, I am solely committed to one of our clients. Working with the team at Pareto, we are working to realign their brand with their philosophy, making sure their messaging is clear and compassionate throughout all the brand touchpoints.
What’s your favourite thing about working for Venn?
I love how Venn is aligned to my personal values, coming into the office (when we were allowed) was seamless. We are connected but safe; being a new starter during this challenging time has been easy.
It’s fantastic to see a KPI driven marketing agency, and the talent level within the business continues to inspire me.
Venn is a compassionate brand, one that combines the creative flair needed with calculated business decisions.
What are you most looking forward to here at Venn?
My favourite part of what we do is when you manage to hit the nail on the head for a business, that moment when you can pass over the findings to them, and it fits perfectly with what they wanted to achieve, the satisfaction I get from that moment is priceless.
Since I’ve started working on the Pareto project, we’ve been able to lift the lid on their brand; it’s gratifying to see people gain such satisfaction from the brand they care about so much.
What do you think it takes to work at Venn?
You need to believe in the common goal. The same vision unites everyone here.
You need to be willing to muck in and take everything with a bit of humour. If you put in the leg work, you will be respected.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Caring, conscientious & nuts!
What is your proudest achievement?
I feel like I’ve achieved every time I complete a project. At home, I have a stack of brand books that I helped create or build, and it is so satisfying to look back over that work.
Seeing that closing point of a project, each time, it’s just the best feeling.
I’ve also written some killer slogans in my time!
Why do you love marketing?
My brain is like a Rolodex. When given a problem, my mind will turn into a ticker and keep going until I get an answer!
I Enjoy tearing things apart to get to the root. I pride myself on being analytical in such a creative role. I make sure to find the proper justification for each action.
I also love being able to communicate on a personal level to a vast audience and yet reach them all on a meaningful and emotional level. Branding goes beyond the brand, and I believe it can define who a person is. – Everything has an emotional connection.
What do you do outside of work?
I’m quite a restless person, always need to be doing something!
I enjoy cooking, gardening and painting. I'm basically an 80-year-old woman, I read, knit, drink tea, paint watercolours.
I am also now mum to some lovely chickens!
