LWC Drinks came to us for a simple refresh of their brochure website, but once our team looked into it and their business, it was clear they needed something more. They needed a full site redesign that was not only in line with their brand and audience, but able to handle their enormous, demanding database.
It wasn’t long before our attention turned to their Customer Ordering Portal, which was out-dated but still linked to their 14 delivery depots, customer database and live pricing system. This needed rebuilding from the ground up to enhance user experience and functionality, but it also had to be robust enough to handle and improve on sales of up to £300m per year.
Due to LWC being the largest UK-based independent drinks wholesaler, selling up to £300m of stock per year, they wanted the new brochure site to make this clear. We made the products at their disposal key to the new look site and combined a visually impressive design with clear user journeys and conversion points. Alongside this, we focused on their history and core business values, showing the retention of staff and growth of the business to draw in potential recruits.
For the Customer Ordering Portal, we started with a visual overhaul and added in a simplistic navigation which allows users to search over 10,000 live-priced products easily.
Our reimagining of their ordering system means that users could not only create and manage multiple orders, with options to choose a specific depot, time and date for delivery, but track it too, with live order status updates. Other features include a custom list of favourite products for quick ordering, control of invoices, statements and credit notes. For LWC, we ensured administration structure and offers could be assigned and integrated everything with the various systems they use to run their business.
We embraced the engineering challenge of developing a new, flexible solution for present and future business requirements, but also respected the legacy of the old system and the people who depend on it.

Launched in February 2017, LWC have had excellent feedback on the new site. With minimal downtime and a successful go-live, their beautiful brochure website is wowing new and returning customers, and saw 295 new registrations within four weeks of launch.
Meanwhile, the Customer Ordering Portal, with its new responsive design and more user focused interface, has seamlessly integrated with their complex, in-house systems. With 4563 Active Users and an average of 30 orders per day recorded in the first month, it is proving to be a robust, effective solution.
