Venn Celebrates IWD 2024: Inspire Inclusion

Today, as we celebrate International Women's Day, let's talk about breaking barriers and building creative solutions together in the world of technology. Innovation knows no gender, and neither does success. That's why we're thrilled to showcase the incredible women who are making waves in the tech industry right here at Venn, who are the driving force behind our creative solutions and groundbreaking ideas.

You might be surprised to learn that while women comprise only 26% of the tech workforce globally, 40% of Venn employees are women. And it doesn't stop there. In a world where only 34% of promotions in the tech industry went to women last year, Venn saw 46% of its promotions granted to female employees.

But what does inclusivity mean at Venn? It means creating an environment where everyone feels valued and supported, regardless of gender. It means ensuring a culture of collaboration and respect, where ideas are judged on their merit, not the person behind them.

At Venn, we prioritise women's growth. Nationally, just 30% of digital apprenticeship completers are women, but within our programme, an impressive 67% are female. This showcases our commitment to diversity and equality. We're dedicated to continuing this trend, providing more opportunities for women to excel in their careers.

To support this and celebrate International Women's Day 2024's theme of inclusion, we spoke to a few of Venn’s inspirational women about their thoughts on Venn's inclusive culture.

What is inclusivity to you, and how is it reflected at Venn?

“To me, inclusion is knowing that you're an equal and your opinion, values, and expertise are respected as much as anyone else's at the table. Venn has supported me in my role as Head of Search (where SEO is traditionally a male-dominated industry) and allowed me to grow my expertise and help build an SEO product from the ground up. Our Search team has a 50/50 split where half of the team is female and we're showing that women are just as capable at SEO campaigns and our knowledge is just as valuable.” - Sara Kavanagh, Head of Search
